For her latest film, “A Call to Spy,” Sarah wrote the original screenplay, produced, and plays legendary American spy Virginia Hall, alongside Stana Katic (playing Vera Atkins) and Radhika Apte (playing Noor Inayat Khan). The feature, released by IFC Films, has won numerous awards including the Anti-Defamation League “Stand Up” Award presented at the 2020 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and the “Audience Choice” award (in record numbers) in Canada. INDIEWIRE called Thomas “the standout here, with the multi-hyphenate not only taking on the film’s meatiest role as real-life spy figure Virginia Hall, but also writing and producing the feature.” The film was released in select theatres and on demand from IFC in North America and “gave fuel to the specialty Box Office” despite the pandemic landscape (Deadline). “A Call To Spy” was released to critical acclaim in the UK, India (as an “Amazon Original”). and Australia. In Australia, the film proved a Box Office success — opening in the top 10.
Sarah’s previous film was the groundbreaking “Equity,” in which she created the concept, co-wrote the story, produced, and starred. A first of its kind, “Equity” is a female driven Wall Street thriller. The Film premiered in Dramatic Competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, where it sold to Sony Pictures Classics. A.O Scott at The New York Times made “Equity” a Critic’s Pick when it was released theatrically nationwide. The Hollywood Reporter reviewed Sarah’s performance as “subtle, but gutsy.” Sarah was honored with a Women’s Image Network Award, Creative Coalition Spotlight Award, and Voice of A Woman Award for “Equity.”
Sarah also starred in the romance-drama “Backwards” opposite James Van Der Beek and has appeared in various television shows including “Law and Order, SVU.” She has starred in numerous Off-Broadway productions and played Berowne(a) in a whimsical, gender-bending “Love’s Labour’s Lost” (The New York Times review: “Once you hear Berowne(a)’s (Sarah Megan Thomas’) immortal cry of longing ‘Oh my little heart!’ spoken by a woman, you may wonder why Shakespeare didn’t think of that”).
She’s an athlete in her personal life, enjoying nearly all sports from basketball to yoga. She has climbed to the top of Mt. Rainer in Washington and sea-kayaked in Alaska.
A graduate of Williams College, Sarah trained as an actress at RADA and Drama Studio London.
Sarah currently resides in downtown New York City with her husband, son Christoper, and daughter Madison.
